• Consumers should shop around to compare prices and conditions of sale.

• Consumers may propose an amount of deposit they are willing to pay.

• It is in the consumer’s best interest to pay the least possible amount of deposit.

• Payment terms should be negotiated before a contract of sale is concluded.

• When an agreed delivery date is not honoured by a trader, consumers may opt to terminate the sale.

• Before signing, consumers should ensure that everything agreed upon is written down on the contract of sale.

• When problems crop up, the seller is obliged to put things right.

• Once a sale is concluded, consumers cannot change their mind.
