David Thake’s radio programme Tagħna Lkoll, among others, enjoys overwhelming support. He does not need to organise a political campaign for the next election. In fact, instead of saving money for this purpose he has already opted so genuinely to donate a sum of money from his fundraising events to help people in need, irrespective of the constituency they come from.

His popularity is completely to his credit. He entered politics because he felt the need to give a voice to people, mostly the vulnerable. People from all walks of life and of any political leaning contact him and feel free to express themselves on topics ranging from extremely personal to the most general ones.

Of course, Thake is well versed in what is happening around us, is updated on the latest developments and has excellent communication skills. However, what has established this bond with the people is his honesty and clear views. For him, truth has to be intact. He knows that distorting the truth diminishes the dignity of individuals, which is of utmost importance to him.

He refuses to accept mean comments on any one and when one becomes emotional for valid reasons he transmits so much empathy. He simply loves the people and one instantly believes him when he says he is in politics to safeguard the dignity of every individual. So here we have a generous politician who is sharing his values – presented to him by his parents – with the people. He is instilling in the people the understanding of what it means to be assertive without being arrogant and unkind while respecting others.

This is the main reason why he is endearing himself to the people through Tagħna Lkoll, which is reflecting their true aspirations.
