The driver of a private bus that was filmed running a red light has been identified and has had his drivers' tag suspended, Transport Malta said last night.

Earlier in the day, Times of Malta showed dashcam footage of the vehicle speeding through the red light in Floriana, potentially causing a major accident.

A spokesman for the transport regulator this evening said: "Transport Malta has investigated the case and managed to trace the coach driver. Transport Malta has suspended the said driver’s Tag (Coach Driving Permit) and forwarded the driver's details to the police for further investigation."

The footage, uploaded to Youtube, showed the bus approach the crossing at St Anne Street and driving straight on without any sign of slowing down... as other vehicles waited until the lights turned green.
