New Zealand Police recruitment crew proved they’ve got some moves during a surprise performance in a Hip Hop Unite Championship in Wellington, New Zealand.

A video posted to Youtube starts with the show host holding what he claims to be a found wallet. When nobody in the audience admits to having lost a wallet, two police officers come up on stage, accompanied by the sound of KRS One’s Sound of Da Police.

The duo bust out some impressive break dance moves on stage. Shortly after, a full crew of dancing cops, all of whom are serving officers, join them on stage.

Wearing their operational uniforms, the cops wowed the audience with a selection of hip hop moves: break dance, pop lock and classic moves like the moon walk and the running man.

According to the NZ Police statement, the police dance crew, called #runningmanchallenge, was met by a standing ovation, proving a hit with the youth in the audience.

"Our performance allowed us to positively engage with youth who were present and let aspiring recruits know that all sorts of people work at NZ Police, including people with a love of hip hop music and dance" said Police's National Manager of Brand and Engagement, James Whitaker.

"After the performance there was a massive queue of happy kids who were keen to take selfies with the crew" he said.
