• The feast of the Visitation will be celebrated in Għarb today. Gozo Bishop Mario Grech will lead a solemn Mass at 9am. Marches by St Margaret Band start at 11.30am. Archpriest Joseph Sultana will lead sung vespers at 6.30pm. He will lead the procession at 7.30pm, accompanied by the Visitation Band. The Leone Band will perform in front of the parish church. The procession will end at 10pm with the antiphon and sacramental blessing. A thanksgiving Mass will be celebrated tomorrow at 7.30pm followed by a barbecue in front of the parish centre.

• A Bible study meeting will be held tomorrow at 7.30pm at St Anthony church, Għajnsielem. All are welcome.

• A blood donation session will be held at the Gozo General Hospital, Outpatients Department, on Tuesday from 1pm to 5pm.

• To mark the inauguration of its new band club premises the St Gregory Band of Kerċem, directed by Mro Mark Gauci, will give a concert at Pjazza Orvieto, Kerċem, on Tuesday at 8.45pm. The concert will be held under the patronage of President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca. The premises will be blessed by Bishop Mario Grech

• Ħondoq by Night Festival will be held at Ħondoq on Friday at 8pm. Organised by the Qala council, the event will feature a live concert by Red Electric, The Travellers and DJs Ryan Spiteri, Darco and Mykill.

• The diocesan Eucharistic Movement will hold a prayer evening at Our Lady of Mount Carmel church, Ta’ Ħamet, on Saturday at 8.30pm, followed by Mass at midnight.

• A festival of figs and Maltese products will be held at Xagħra on Saturday and next Sunday. The activity is being organised by the Xagħra council in collaboration with the Parliamentary Secretariat for Local Government, Malta Tourism Authority and the Valletta 2018 Foundation. A seminar on fig trees cultivation will be held on Saturday at the Dun Alwiġ Camilleri Hall, Victory Band Club, Maria Bambina Street, at 10am. A traditional dinner will be held in Victory Square in the evening.

An exhibition of Gozitan and Maltese food products will be held in Victory Square on Sunday from 8am. There will be cooking sessions by Peter Dacoutros and live entertainment by Ta’ Verna Folk Band. Tickets for dinner can be obtained from the council and NGOs in Xagħra.

• An ‘I Choose’ event will take place at the Grand Hotel, Mġarr, on Saturday between 9am and 1pm. The event is meant for students who need advice and help in choosing a career. To book an appointment with the guidance team or attend the talk call 9991 4356.

• The Islands and Small States Institute within the University of Malta is offering three courses at the Gozo Campus – a Masters Course on Islands and Small States and two diploma courses (Gozo Studies and Lace Studies). The Masters Course, the Gozo Studies Diploma Course and the Lace Studies Diploma Course are all spread over two years on part-time study. Lecture sessions for all of the three courses will be held at the Gozo Campus, normally on Friday evenings and Saturday mornings. • A viola and piano recital by Stephanie Pavia and Saki Matsumoto will be held at the Gozo Ministry Hall in Victoria on Thursday at 7pm. The recital is in aid of the Friends of the Sick and the Elderly in Gozo. Advance booking is not necessary.
