Turkish police detained 11 foreigners, suspected of being members of an Islamic State branch in Istanbul linked to the bombing of Istanbul airport on Tuesday.

The detained are suspected to have links to the suicide bombers who attacked Istanbul’s main airport on Tuesday, according to a Turkish media Haberturk. The attack resulted in 44 deaths, making it the deadliest attack in Turkey this year.

The 11 suspects were arrested by a counter-terror police squad on the European side of Istanbul, bringing the number of people detained in the investigation to 24.

A police spokesman could not confirm the report.

Three suspected IS suicide bombers who attacked the airport were Russian, Uzbek and Kyrgyz nationals, a Turkish government official said yesterday.
