Coach Laurent Blanc is leaving Paris St Germain after three seasons in charge, clearing the way for former Sevilla coach Unai Emery to join the French champions.

French media reported that Blanc had a signed a €22 million settlement contract with the club.

“Both parties have discussed and signed on June 27 a settlement contract that preserved their interests,” Paris SG said in a statement yesterday.

Blanc’s future appeared to be in jeopardy this month when club president Nasser al Khelaifi described the 2015-16 season as a failure because of the club’s elimination from the Champions League by Manchester City.

Promoted Alaves go for Pellegrino

Former Liverpool defender and first-team coach Mauricio Pellegrino has been named coach of La Liga new-boys Alaves.

The Argentinian replaces Jose Bordalas, who led the club to the Segunda Division title last season.

Pellegrino leaves his role as head coach of Club Atletico Independiente in his home country after only a year in charge.

The 44-year-old made 13 ap-pearances for Alaves between 2005 and 2006 before announcing his retirement as a player.

Pellegrino has signed a one-year deal with Alaves.

Portugal escape punishment

Portugal have escaped punishment for a fan running onto the pitch to take a selfie with Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Portuguese football federation was charged with field invasion by UEFA after the incident following the goalless Euro 2016 draw with Austria on June 18.

A man ran half the length of the field to grab the photo opportunity and Ronaldo duly obliged, waving away stewards until the picture had been taken.

Belgium, however, were fined €5,000 after charges were brought relating to the setting off of fireworks in their 3-0 win over Ireland on June 18.

Tottenham’s Son for Rio medal bid

South Korea have named Son Heung-min as one of the three over-age players in their 18-man squad for the Rio Olympics, hoping the Tottenham Hotspur striker can help them improve on the bronze medal they won in London four years ago.

The 16-team Olympic football competition is open to players under the age of 23, and permit only three over-age players as “wild cards”.

Porto forward Suk Hyun-jun and Guangzhou defender Jang Hyun-soo are coach Shin Tae-yong’s other wild-card selections.

South Korea have been paired with world champions Germany, 2012 gold medallist Mexico and Fiji in Group C.

Dani Alves seals move to Juventus

Juventus have signed Dani Alves on a two-year contract after the full-back decided to call time on his Barcelona career.

The 33-year-old Brazilian had 12 months left on his contract at the Nou Camp but asked to leave after a successful eight-year stint.

Alves was a regular for Bar-celona since joining from Sevilla in 2008. He helped them to the treble in 2014-15 and won his sixth La Liga title in the season just ended.

However, he has now joined Serie A champions Juventus on a deal that will run to June 30, 2018, and a statement published on the Italian club’s official website revealed an option for a further year exists.

Rajevac confirmed as Algeria coach

Serbian Milovan Rajevac has been appointed the new coach of Algeria, the country’s football federation has confirmed.

Rajevac came close to helping Ghana become the first African side to reach the semi-finals of the World Cup in 2010 and takes over from Christian Gourcuff, who resigned in April ahead of a move to Stade Rennes.

Rajevac, 62, will be expected to lead Algeria to the World Cup in Russia but faces a difficult qualification group that also contains Nigeria, Cameroon and Zambia.

Mane edging closer to Liverpool move

Southampton’s Senegalese striker Sadio Mane will undergo a medical at Liverpool after the clubs agreed a £30 million ($40.2 million) transfer, British media reported.

The 24-year-old is expected to sign in the next couple of days if personal terms are agreed.

Mane joined Southampton for less than £10 million from Red Bull Salzburg two years ago and has scored 11 goals in 37 Premier League appearances, including two against Liverpool in a dramatic 3-2 win at St Mary’s on March 20.

Mane is set to become Liverpool’s fourth signing of the summer after Joel Matip joined on a free transfer from Schalke, Marko Grujic left Red Star Belgrade, and goalkeeper Loris Karius was imported from Mainz.
