As temperatures grow hotter, so do the tempers of many people summoned to court.

Court security personnel are finding themselves at the receiving end of a barrage of insults whenever people donning inappropriate attire are refused entry.

Men who enter the courtroom must wear a jacket and tie while women must wear clothes with sleeves.

“The Courts of Justice have a dress code and we are not to allow access to people who do not adhere to it,” a security officer told this newspaper.

“Unfortunately, people tend to take it out against us for doing our job. Every summer, it’s always the same problem,” he sighed.

However, the security officer also offers a solution.

“It’s high time that the dress code is printed on the back of the court summons which is delivered by the police. That way, people would be properly informed on which apparel is acceptable and which isn’t.”

Meanwhile, unacceptable attire includes:

• Tight, sheer, and/or low-cut clothing of any style.
• Short skirts.
• Clothing with offensive, vulgar, racist, sexist, obscene, or suggestive words, slogans, depictions or pictures.
• Clothing that is dirty, torn, or ragged.
• Tank tops/halter tops, tops with narrow shoulder straps.
• Shorts, bermuda shorts or cropped trousers (trousers must be full length).
• Flip flops or sandals without a back strap.
• Hats and hoodies.
