Italy surpassed expectations by winning their group with one game to spare, after entering Euro 2016 under a cloud of pessimism.

But despite beating both Belgium and Sweden,  the Azzurri drew perhaps the toughest draw of the final 16 round, as they now face champions Spain in a repeat of the Euro 2012 final.

Spain began the tournament strongly, but a 2-1 loss to Croatia in their final group game meant they finished second and will now have to beat Italy to progress to the quarter-finals.

The winner of this big-name clash will face world champions Germany in the quarter-finals.
