Hats off to the government and the Malta Transport Authority for improving the road network in Malta, particularly some of our major arteries.

But the same cannot be said so far as most of our secondary roads are concerned. One of these happens to be the road which from St Agatha’s chapel in Żurrieq leads to Ħal Far.

It is quite a busy road and can be used as a shortcut to Ħal Far and Birżebbuġa. Unfortunately this road has been abandoned for many long years. I invite the authorities to drive along this stretch of road and see for themselves the outrageous state it is in.

The road badly needs to be fixed as the surface resembles craters on the moon. Years ago, one used to see workers widening such roads to eliminate blind corners and to reduce the danger to drivers, but not nowadays.

I urge the authorities to do something about this stretch of road. It is a shame that in this day and age one still finds roads full of massive potholes. No major expenses are needed to carry out some maintenance on this road. What is needed is the will to improve its quality for the benefit of our tax-paying citizens who deserve much better treatment.

So I urge Transport Malta to come and have a look.
