A Malta branch of Pakistan Minorities Alliance was set up and inaugurated. A committee for PMA Malta was also nominated and PMA Europe board members were chosen.

The Malta branch aims to create awareness and not turn a blind eye to the culture of intolerance and discrimination. It also hopes to tackle issues such as legal involvement, political activism, religious leadership and economic development.

The protection of the rights of minorities is provided for under Article 27 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.

However, the UN Declaration on the Rights of Persons Belonging to National or Ethnic, Religious and Linguistic Minorities is the document which sets essential standards and offers guidance to States in adopting appropriate legislative and other measure to secure the rights of persons belonging to minorities.

There are 18 branches of PMA worldwide: in the UK, Russia, Germany, United Arab Emirates, Italy, South Korea, Spain, France, Austria, Holland, Poland, Switzerland, Denmark, Australia, Ukraine, South Africa and now in Malta.
