Boxing: World heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has announced the postponement of his much-anticipated re-match with Ukrainian Wladimir Klitschko after the British boxer suffered an ankle sprain on a run. Fury was due to defend his WBA and WBO heavyweight crowns in against Klitschko in Manchester on July 9. A date for the rescheduled fight is yet to be decided. “The fight will be postponed. Sorry to all my fans, but injuries do happen,” Fury said on his Instagram page.

Basketball, NBA: Versatile Australian forward Ben Simmons is set to get to work in revitalising the Philadelphia 76ers after the team picked him first overall in the NBA draft. “I’ve been looking forward to this day for a while, so I’m glad I’ve made history, not only for myself but my family and Australian basketball,” Simmons said. The 19-year-old joins a Philadelphia team that has stocked up on high draft picks in recent years but still toiled in the basement of the league.

Triathlon: Leeds will host the UK’s round of the World Triathlon Series for the second time in 2017. The event moved north from its regular home in Hyde Park for the first time earlier this month, with more than 80,000 people lining the streets of the city centre to watch local hero Alistair Brownlee triumph ahead of younger brother Jonny. It was hailed as a great successand the race will return over the same course on June 11 next year.
