Muse made a triumphant return to Glastonbury Festival, headlining the opening night on the Pyramid Stage.
Strobes illuminated thousands of screaming fans as frontman Matt Bellamy took control of the stage.
It is the band's third time headlining, meaning they have scored a hat-trick by playing all three nights of the festival after their performances in 2004 and 2010.
The band kicked off their set with a performance of their 2015 hit Psycho.
But it was the screeching guitar opening of hit Plug In Baby that whipped the crowd into a frenzy, with one setting off a flare high into the sky.
The stage was plunged into total darkness for the haunting piano of Isolated System.
The crowd went wild and roared out the words as Muse played some of their biggest hits, keeping the crowd happy with Supermassive Black Hole.
Muse performed their classic song Starlight as the sun set on the Somerset countryside.
In one of Bellamy's more rock n' roll moments, the frontman finished a solo by throwing his guitar to the ground.
The audience were treated to songs including Madness, Hysteria and Time Is Running Out.
The band calmed things down with a choral rendition of The Globalist before getting the crowd jumping again for 2009 hit Uprising and new song Mercy.
As a parting shot, streamers and confetti shot into the air. The band finished on a high note with Knights of Cydonia.
