Undoubtedly, RTK is one of the best radio stations in Malta.

It has a significant cross section of listeners. As a Catholic Church radio, its mission is to spread the joy of the gospel, the Catholic doctrine, the moral values and the social teaching of the Church, particularly, those relating to family values. The station should be above party politics and be seen as such.

Its programmes should promote unity and suppress division. Very often, it is being manipulated and politically abused. Party political content is subtly or openly present.

A number of discussion programmes, during prime time and late evening repetition, are politically biased. The presenters and, particularly, their guests openly push their political agenda. Some phone-in listeners add spice to the content. In contrast, programmes on Catholic doctrine, moral values, social teaching of the Church and pastoral guidance are relatively few. How many programmes were held on Francis’s Amoris Laetitia?

Even information on the teaching of the Church regarding certain so-called civil rights Bills is scarce. It is time to change course.

The board of directors has the duty and responsibility to monitor programmes and stop forthwith programmes whose hidden agenda is party political propaganda.
