The Sterling is down, the European Union's general mood is down, and one of Europe's biggest online clothing retailers is down too.

ASOS' website crashed overnight, leaving Brits desperate for a spot of retail therapy - and wily Europeans out to make the most of a plunging Sterling - with one less place to splurge.

Visitors to the site are being greeted with an error page suggesting they visit the retailers' social media feeds instead.

The prolonged - and poorly-timed - outage prompted some users to posit that the crash was all a ploy for the retailer to adjust its prices while the Sterling plummeted on world markets.

But the company said there was nothing conspiratorial about the outage - it was all just a technical blip.

Whatever the reason, Brexit orphans already used to the UK's weather got another reminder today that when it rains, it pours.
