As reported in other sections of the press, the Episcopal Conference in Malta has decreed that on February 10 of each year the readings from the Acts of the Apostles should henceforth include the full narrative of the shipwreck, that is up to Chapter 28, verse 10. As one who had been advocating such an action, I hasten to congratulate the Episcopal Conference. It is hoped that no churches will ‘inadvertently’ omit to read the whole narrative.

Also, the weekly leaflet Jum il-Mulej must make sure that,in future, it will include thefull excerpt.

While on this topic, I encourage the Episcopal Conference to tackle the remaining pending points.

I am reliably informed by a high prelate within the Holy See that Pope Francis is worried about certain aspects of religious pique in these islands. In fact, the Pope is appointing a delegation to examine in detail why, some 50 years ago, the Maltese Curia had accepted a number of falsities regarding St Publius.

Therefore, I implore the Episcopal Conference to rectify those mistakes and revert to the liturgy that had been in use for many centuries before two Franciscan friars had misunderstood and misinformed the Curia regarding the studies of one of the few doctors of the Church, namely St Bede.
