On Wednesday last week, my three friends and I went to spend the day at Cafe del Mar, in Qawra. It was a beautiful day, the surroundings were spotlessly clean, the pool was fabulous, also the food, but, oh dear. The music was so loud and unbearable it ruined a lovely day.

We asked whether they could turn down the volume and the answer was no. We couldn’t speak and, eventually, after getting a really bad headache with the noise, we left.

I don’t know who the owners are targeting because very few teenagers or young people were there; it was mostly middle aged and older patrons. I can understand that happening in the evening, when the young ones come out to enjoy themselves, but I’m afraid it will be the last time me or my friends will go. A pity, because it really is an asset to the area.
