Giovanni Tedesco has been named as Floriana coach.

The former Palermo midfielder is returning for a second spell with the Greens, having led the Premier League club between February 2014 and May last year.

Tedesco succeeds Belgian coach Luis Oliveira who had ironically taken over Floriana last summer after the former left the club to join Birkirkara.

Tedesco had been Floriana president Riccardo Gaucci's preferred candidate but for a time it looked as though discussions had stalled after the Italian coach was interviewed by Hibernians over their coaching post which eventually went to Mark Miller.

Gaucci has since had a change of heart after clear-the-air talks with Tedesco who today agreed a one-year contract to return as Floriana coach.
