Officials from the Superintendence of Cultural heritage are examining ancient rock-cut tombs found during works on the road which links Bahrija to Rabat.

The discovery is the second to have been made within a few days.

Punic tombs  (2300 BC to 800 BC) had been previously discovered in other parts of Bahrija.

The authorities have been repeatedly criticized by Bahrija residents for the length of time the road works are taking.
