The St Edward’s College Summer Club is a fun-packed eight-week programme, inspired by the concept that childrenlearn through enjoyable and entertaining experiences.
The programme, which has been running for the past four years, has been extremely successful with parents and students. Numbers have steadily increased with children returning every year. Last year, St Edward’s College had four mixed classes, each divided per age group.
Activities include sports, swimming, crafts, painting, cooking, science, visits and outings. The college facilities are used to their full potential, from the extensive sports grounds to the kitchen facilities.
The college also tries to include an element of learning throughout the programme so that children still keep their minds active while enjoying themselves.
College staff do their best to create activities that are fun and help children gain confidence in themselves. Water activities are an example of this, where the exercises focus on developing children’s swimming capabilities.
Pool games, such as underwater races, relay races, ball collecting games and pulling the children around with noodles are also organised regularly since they prove to be a highlight of the swimming sessions. While it is important for the children to have fun and relax during their activities while learning something new with the teachers, safety is always a priority. In fact, all activities are held in safe environments and under constant supervision.
The programme will run for eight weeks from July 4 to September 7. The Summer Club is open to both boys and girls from ages two to 13 from all schools. Children must be out of their nappies when applying for the Summer Programme. Hours are from Monday to Friday from 8.30am until 12pm or from 8.30am until 1pm, or Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8.30am till 12pm or from 8.30am till 1pm.
A five per cent discount is applicable to siblings attending the programme.
