The Department of Correctional Services is currently recruiting correctional officers, the Home Affairs Ministry said today.

Officers will be tasked with guarding prison buildings and inmates as well as carrying out inmate, officer and visitor searches. They will also be expected to monitor and guide inmates towards rehabilitation.

Home Affairs Minister Carmelo Abela said the recruitment process was part of reforms being carried out at Corradino Correctional Facility. It was aimed to further enhance working conditions within disciplined forces particularly within the Correctional Services.

Some 90 correctional officers were recruited in the past three years.

Application forms will be received by the Director Correctional Services, Corradino Correctional Facility, Valletta Raod, Paola PLA1707 up to noon on June 17.
