A philharmonic orchestra, a local hip hop crew and a bagpipe band will be among the acts lined up to perform at a Mellieħa music festival.


Mellieħa will be organising an international music festival for the third consecutive year next week, with an eclectic mix of musicians and performers lined up to perform over its four-day period.

The festival will begin on Thursday 2 June with a performance by English cjoic Cantamici at the Manikata parish church at 8pm. Valletta 2018 chairman Jason Micallef and Culture Minister Owen Bonnici will officially launch the festival.
It will run until Sunday 5 June, with events being held in the town square. Festival events are listed below.

Friday 3 June - from 8.30pm onwards:

• Concert by the La Vittoria Philharmonic Orchestra and the choir ‘Vuċijiet Vittorjani’
• Folkloristic musical entertainment performed by the Gozitan ‘Grupp Kummittiva Għawdxija’
• Wallace Pipes & Drums

Saturday 4 June 2016 – 8pm onwards:

• Concert by the Cantamici Choir
• Concert by the band and choir ‘Imperial Band Club’
• Dancing show by Street Elements HIPHOP Artists
• Spectacular concert by the local Band JAMM

Sunday 5 June 2016 – 8pm onwards:

• Concert by the Choral and Orchestral Society Maria Bambina
• Concert by Ensemble from the National Philharmonic Orchestra
• Jackson’s Pipe Band & Flammable Piper
