Farah shook off a valiant challenge by Kenyan William Sitonik to win his first outdoor race of the year and kept alive a five-year winning streak at the distance as he clocked an Olympic-qualifying time of 26 minutes, 53.71 seconds.

Giro d'Italia: Italian Vincenzo Nibali was poised to win his second Giro d’Italia title after taking the overall lead in impressive fashion in the final mountain stage yesterday. The Astana rider, who started the day 44 seconds behind pink jersey holder Esteban Chaves of Colombia, attacked on the long ascent to the Col de la Lombarde, dropping his rivals one by one as Estonia Rein Taramae (Katusha) won the 20th stage. Today’s 21st and final żstage to Turin is a flat ride that żshould not change the overall standings.

Rugby Union: Saracens became the first English club for 12 years to win a domestic and European double as they resisted a thrilling Exeter fightback to retain the Aviva Premiership title. Tennis: Seven-times grand slam champion John McEnroe is joining the coaching team of Canadian world number nine Milos Raonic, the American said on Friday. McEnroe, 57, made the announcement while working for Eurosport at the French Open. “When it comes to Wimbledon I’ll be taking on and I’m gonna help coach this guy named Milos,” McEnroe said. “He can win majors. He is one of five or six guys that can win Wimbledon. I’m excited to be part of his team.”
