The racing series from the ASMK National Championships continued at the circuit in Ta’ Qali recently with more rounds from the Autocross and Motocross categories.

In Autocross Standard and Modified, drivers raced in three heats in relatively-faster anti-clockwise direction.

In Modified, Christian Mark Galea won all heats on a Fiat Ritmo to seal his place in the Class A final.

Johnson Gordon also qualified along with Malcolm Borg, both on Opel Corsa, Andrew Pisani (Vauxhall Nova), and Karl Micallef and Godfrey Gauci (both Ford Fiesta).

Galea led the race in its early stages followed by Johnson and Micallef. Half-way through the distance, Johnson overtook Galea and he maintained the lead throughout for his first Class A win of the season.

Johnson was followed home by Borg and Galea as fourth place went to Gauci. Pisani and Micallef came in at fifth and sixth positions.

The Class B final was contested by Juergen Mallia (Honda Civic), Josef Abela (Vauxhall Nova), Joseph Micallef (Opel Corsa), Keith Borg (Vauxhall Nova), James Micallef (Opel Corsa) and Ryan Scicluna (Ford Fiesta).

This race also saw the first driver in, Abela, chalking up his first win of the season as he beat Micallef and Scicluna to the finish line.

There was no such instance in the Standard Class, however, as Deane Farrugia (Citroen AX) won for the fifth time this season.

Although the entry list for the Motocross round of races was rather shorter, yet the riders involved produced a fine display to the delight of those present.

Camilleri brothers, Clayton and Kyle, dominated the Class A while, as anticipated, Class B saw Gozitan riders stealing most of the limelight at the circuit.

Mario Cauchi, on a Honda, continued to defend his lead in the Class B championship as he won both heats on the day.
