Mario Balotelli looks set to return to Liverpool after Milan president Silvio Berlusconi intimated the Serie A club would not be making their loan deal for the mercurial Italian a permanent one.

Balotelli moved back to Milan on a season-long loan last year after failing to impress in Merseyside, scoring just one Premier League goal following a £16 million switch from the San Siro in August 2014.

However, his second stint with Milan has proved similarly unproductive.

Berlusconi said: “There will be many departures because players such as Alex, Mexes, Boateng and Balotelli are at the end of their contracts.”

Head coach Coyle parts with Dynamo

Former Burnley and Bolton boss Owen Coyle has left his role as Houston Dynamo head coach by mutual consent in order to be closer to his family in England.

Coyle took charge of the MLS club in December 2014 on a three-year deal but has had little success, with Dynamo failing to reach the play-offs last season while they currently sit bottom of the Western Conference with three wins from their opening 12 matches.

But it is for personal reasons that the 49-year-old Scot is bringing an early end to his stay in the United States.

Copa America to use Hawk-Eye

Hawk-Eye technology will be used to decide whether the ball has crossed the goal-line at next month’s Copa America Centenario in the United States, the tournament’s organising committee said.

The British company’s camera-based system, utilised widely in tennis and cricket and at the 2014 World Cup final, will be installed in all 10 stadiums hosting soccer’s oldest international championship.

Hawk-Eye was also used during the 2015 Women’s World Cup, and in several of the world’s leading soccer leagues and federations, including UEFA, the English Premier League and Germany’s Bundesliga.

Goetze’s chances

Bayern Munich yesterday suggested attacking midfielder Mario Goetze’s playing future at the German champions may remain on the bench, even though he showed his desire to earn a starting spot after turning down a possible move away.

Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said: “Everything was clearly explained to Mario.

“He knows what the club thinks and what the new coach thinks. Mario has to evaluate for himself whether he wants to play constantly.”

Goetze only returned to fitness in February following a five-month injury break.

Carneiro case to be heard in June

Jose Mourinho and Chelsea face the prospect of three weeks of public disclosure of their dispute with former first-team doctor Eva Carneiro at an employment tribunal next month.

Carneiro is claiming constructive dismissal against Chelsea and has a separate personal legal action against Mourinho, who left the club in December, for alleged victimisation and discrimination.

Croydon Employment Tribunal has set aside June 6 to June 24 for the tribunal, which is anticipated to be heard over seven to 10 days within that time frame.

Private hearings in January and February took place without a conclusion.

Seleznyov added to Ukraine’s squad

Striker Evhen Seleznyov was added to Ukraine’s provisional Euro 2016 squad by coach Mykhaylo Fomenko after he was surprisingly missing from the initial team named last week.

The 30-year-old had helped Ukraine qualify for the finals in France but Fomenko named just three forwards in his initial squad.

Seleznyov joined the team in Sardinia for their training camp, the Ukraine Football Federation said on their website.

Ukraine are scheduled to play friendlies against Romania on Sunday and Albania on June 3 before they face Germany in their opening game at Euro 2016 on June 12.

Middlesbrough may move for Ramirez

Southampton have confirmed the departure of £12m midfielder Gaston Ramirez.

The Uruguay international was a club-record signing for Saints in 2012 but started just 28 matches in four years at St Mary’s.

Ramirez was frozen out by current boss Ronald Koeman and spent last term on loan with Hull before ending the current season at Middlesbrough.

Newly-promoted Boro are understood to be keen on signing the 25-year-old permanently after he scored seven goals in 15 Championship starts.

Veteran goalkeeper Kelvin Davis is also out of contract but is in talks over a new role behind the scenes at the club.
