Significant progress has been made in discussions between the Medical Association of Malta and the Health Department regarding pending issues in primary care, the government said this morning.

On Monday, doctors warned of “effective industrial action” should resolution fail about a number of outstanding issues at health centres which they said created “uncertainty and disruption”.

In its statement, the government said the association will be presenting the government's proposals to its members in the coming days.

In a tweet, Health Minister Chris Fearne expressed satisfaction at the progress made.
