Torino have announced Sinisa Mihajlovic as their new head coach on a two-year contract.

The 47-year-old Serbian had only recently had his contract terminated at Milan. He was part way through his two-year deal with the San Siro club before being sacked in April.

Shortly before the ex-Sampdoria manager’s unveiling, Giampiero Ventura announced he was stepping down as Granata head coach after five years in charge.

Ventura is favourite to take over as Italy coach from Antonio Conte who is joining Chelsea after Euro 2016.

A statement from Torino president Urbano Cairo said: “We would like to thank Giam-piero Ventura for the great work done together and for the fantastic results obtained in this experience rich with mutual satisfaction.

“I believe that after the excellent work alongside Giampiero Ventura and his collaborators, the coach Mihajlovic will be the ideal choice to continue the path taken in recent years.”
