Alex Borg will be back on the World Snooker Main Tour after earning a two-year card for 2016/17 and 2017/18.

Borg has earned his place by virtue of his run in the Qualifying School which was played in the last 12 days in Burton Upon Trent, UK.

A total of 182 players from all over the world took part in this Qualifying School which included two other Maltese players, former professional Tony Drago and current Malta champion Brian Cini.

Borg was one of 12 players who had to overcome six rounds to make it through this tough competition.

“It’s exciting to get back on the Tour because the game is growing very fast and becoming more popular,” Borg said.

“It’s nice to be competing with the best players in the world.”

Borg will be the only Maltese player among the top 128 in the world competing in the Tour that includes household names like world champion Mark Selby and Ronnie O’Sullivan.

The WSA Tour consists of 18 full ranking events played all over the world.
