The US Embassy, together with the organisation Move, will tomorrow be coordinating a morning of sports and games in St George’s Square, Valletta at 9.30am.

This event is part of a wider celebration across Europe, called Move Week, being held between yesterday and Sunday.

The goal of Move Week is to promote an active and healthy lifestyle.

Secondary school students in Malta will participate in a number of activities, including baseball, Capture the Flag, relays, obstacle races and traditional Maltese games.

US Ambassador Kathleen Hill and Maltese dignitaries will kick off the event by launching a ball in St George’s Square.

The ball will be kicked from one dignitary to another, to the students and the public, who will continue to kick the ball through the streets of Valletta, thus promoting Move Week and attracting an audience to the events in St George’s Square.

As the ball travels around Valletta, volunteers will engage the students with games and sports.

The public is invited to join in this initiative which is supported by the Valletta local council.

For more information contact the US Embassy by sending an e-mail to usembmalta@state.gov.
