There were no races from the Premier Class during the 26th meeting of the season, yesterday. The major events on the card were the two races from the Gold category.
In the first, the fifth race in the afternoon programme, early leader Fakir Haleryd (Raymond Schembri) led for most of the distance but ran out of steam midway through the straight for home.
The Swedish trotter was overtaken by favourite Reprise Arriba, under the guidance of Rodney Gatt. This horse went on to seal its second consecutive win and third of the season ahead of Fakir Haleryd.
Rubis Du Chanoy (Charles Camilleri) and Zizazimoko (Paul Galea) were third and fourth, respectively.
Another favourite, Swedish mare Hilda Nalan, claimed its second success this year in the next Gold Class race at the Marsa racetrack.
Driven by Clint Vassallo, Hilda Nalan dashed strongly some 400m away from the post to beat the challenge of Danish Razor Shadow (Nathaniel Barbara).
Quel Imprevu (Paul Galea) and New Star D.K. (Kerstin Galea) had to settle for third and fourth respectively.
Another race meeting at the racetrack will be held on Friday evening.
