The Drachma Parents Group have launched a new publication entitled Uliedna Rigal: 50 mistoqsija u tweġiba għal ġenituri ta’ wlied LGBTIQ.

The book, supported by Mapfre Middlesea and MSV Life, was launched at the University Chaplaincy on May 17 – a day which also marked International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia. President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca was also present for the launch.

The book intends to serve as a good resource and tool for parents, educators and other professionals working with LGBTIQ people, their families and friends. In a simple question and answer format, it addresses several questions. These include – Is being gay a choice? Does one’s upbringing have to do with it? How do I inform other relatives about it? Is my son prone to AIDS?

The book contains several personal stories of families who have passed through this journey – from accepting one’s sexuality to expressing unconditional love to their LGBTIQ relative.

Drachma Malta includes lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered and intersex people, as well as friends of LGBTI people who wish to meet to pray together and explore the intersections between sexuality, gender, gender identity, faith, spirituality and religion.

The book is being sold at €10.
