Malta’s Corona Society is in mourning. We have lost our dear chairwoman, Dorothy Degaetano. She was a gentle and kind woman who has given a lot of her time to people in need.
Malta’s Corona Society is a philanthropic association with its head office in London, and Malta is a branch of it. Mrs Degaetano, helped by the committee, always looked for small institutes that were not in the public eye. To mention just two homes, we send money to the home for battered wives and to Żabbar Home, responsible for children with no families. There are many others.
The funds come from a monthly activity we organise in a well-known club in Sliema. We have 60 members. With God’s help, we always manage to send these institutes a substantial cheque as a Christmas present. Behind all this work, Dorothy Degaetano was always the one most involved. She has left a vacuum difficult to fill. However, her life was also dedicated to her numerous family whom she adored and lived for. But she always found the time for the Corona Society.
The committee and society members offer their deep condolences to her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
May she rest in peace.
