Lady Gaga's piano, which she used to write her first song at the age of five, failed to hit a high note at a New York auction.

The upright piano did not meet its reserve price on Saturday when Los Angeles-based Julien's Auctions offered it as part of the Music Icons memorabilia sale at the Hard Rock Cafe New York.

The 30-year-old singer's piano had a pre-sale estimate of $100,000 to $200,000.

A spokeswoman for the auction house would not disclose the reserve - the lowest price a seller will accept for an item - and it was not immediately clear if the piano would be offered for sale again.

More than 85 Elvis Presley items also were auctioned by Julien's, including a 1969 Gibson Dove guitar that his father Vernon made for him. It sold for $334,000.
