Mosaicist Mary Portelli recently helped Għajnsielem residents, including mayor Franco Ciangura, to make personalised clay mosaics in the shape of fish. The mosaics will be fired and glazed by ceramist Hermine Sammut in the coming weeks and will used to cover a staircase. The project is one of the winners of the Art in Public Spaces programme ‘to promote synergies between artists and community through co-creation’. It is being organised by the infrastructure and culture ministries, the Arts Council and Heritage Malta’s Muża programme.
