As previously stated, two officials engaged with FTS were accusing a private contractor, Giovann Vella, of slander and threats, while he was making serious allegations against one of the individuals. Two reports were filed by the FTS officials - Robert Ciantar and Edward Caruana - on July 28, 2015, and September 1, 2015.

Both statements referred to the allegation of corruption and this is also documented in the police reports. The reports were forwarded to the permanent secretary as evidence that action was taken.

When submitting the police reports, the individuals concerned detailed in full the allegations by Vella and denied them. As a result of one of the reports, the police instituted court proceedings on slander.

Last month, the permanent secretary also wrote to the Police Commissioner following court proceedings. The ministry has and will continue to fully cooperate with any investigations.
