Rednic: Dinamo Bucharest coach Mircea Rednic has quit after reaching an agreement with the 18-times Romanian champions to end his deal, which was about to expire on June 30, he said yesterday. The departure of the 54-year-old much-travelled Rednic, who has coached numerous Romanian teams as well as clubs in Belgium, Saudi Arabia, Russia and Azerbaijan, comes only three days after Dinamo were beaten by CFR Cluj on penalties in the Romanian Cup final.

Smith: Bournemouth defender Adam Smith has signed a new four-year deal that will keep him at the Premier League club until 2020. The 25-year-old joined the Cherries from Tottenham Hotspur in 2014 and has made 31 Premier League appearances this season. “It’s great to be able to reward Adam Smith with this new deal,” Bournemouth chief executive Neill Blake said. “I am sure he will continue to be a crucial part of our side.”

St George’s Tour: Roy Hodgson was joined by England rugby head coach Eddie Jones yesterday as the Three Lions prepare for their first pre-Euro 2016 friendly. Two months after leading the country to their first Six Nations Grand Slam since 2003, the Australian linked up with his footballing counterpart at St George’s Park. Jones was given a tour of the facility by Hodgson and joined the England boss for training, where they spent the session deep in conversation together.

Uefa Charge: UEFA has opened disciplinary proceedings against Liverpool and Sevilla following the Europa League final in Basle on Wednesday. The charges laid against Liverpool are for crowd disturbances and the setting off of fireworks, and Sevilla for crowd disturbances and the throwing of objects. The case will be heard on July 21.

Scotland: Swansea left-back Stephen Kingsley is among four players drafted into the Scotland squad for friendlies against Italy and France. Derby midfielder Craig Bryson and keepers Scott Fox and Jack Hamilton have also been called up. Kingsley and Hamilton are Scotland U-21 regulars while Ross Co’s Fox has previously made the squad under his former Celtic manager Gordon Strachan. Scotland face Italy in Malta on May 29 before taking on France six days later.
