Rangers are no strangers to Scottish Cup success but have not lifted the oldest trophy in world football since 2009. Hibernian’s run of woe in the competition, however, stretches back more than a century.

Here, PA Sport takes a look at the numbers behind today’s Hampden Park showdown.

Five – Players with Scottish Cup winners’ medals from both squads.

Gers have Kenny Miller (2007, with Celtic; 2009, with Rangers), Danny Wilson (2009, with Rangers) and Michael O’Halloran (2014, with St Johnstone).

In the Hibs ranks, there is Anthony Stokes (2011 and 2013, both with Celtic) and Kevin Thomson (2008, with Rangers).

Six – Games Hibernian have had to play to reach the final after taking top-flight opponents Hearts and Inverness to replays before prevailing.

The Ibrox men have gone through five matches after requiring two goes at getting past quarter-final rivals Kilmarnock.

14 – Penalties taken during Rangers’ thrilling shoot-out win over Celtic in the semi-finals.

James Tavernier and Nicky Clark missed from the spot for the Light Blues, but they still progressed with a 5-4 shoot-out win when the Hoops’ Scott Brown, Callum McGregor and Tom Rogic all failed to find the net.

24 – Previous ties today’s finalists have contested in Scottish Cup history. Gers have come out on top on 14 occasions, with Hibs victorious on 10.

But this afternoon’s match is only their second appearance together in the final after 1979’s three-game saga, eventually won by Rangers 3-2 following a second replay.

28 – Goals Rangers’ top scorer Martyn Waghorn has hit for the Ibrox men this season – the Leith outfit’s top marksman Jason Cummings is three behind.

33 – Times the Light Blues have lifted the trophy – 31 more than Hibernian.

90 – Minutes on the clock when Ross County’s Alex Schalk dished out more Hampden heartache for the Hibees with his last-gasp winner in March’s League Cup final.

92 – Teams who kicked off the Scottish Cup tournament’s preliminary rounds back on August 15 last year.

111 – Matches that so far have been played in this year’s competition – including 21 replays. Today’s final will be number 112.

114 – Years since Hibernians last lifted the Scottish Cup.
