You would think that with so much emphasis being put on the protection of the environment we would have our minds at rest with regard to trees, those that remain, anyway. But no. We are still seeing orders being carried out to butcher beautiful trees. This was the case with 60 olive trees that were chopped down ruthlessly.

I just want to know the benefits of these actions. Who would do a thing like that? No wonder we don’t have any rain. Concrete does not attract rain, trees do.

By the way, this is still happening also in Gozo where trees are being removed at Sta Maria cemetery in Xewkija, limits of Victoria not to mention many other places. Some trees were chopped down and simply thrown away and others are being poisoned and left to die.

Can’t we realise we are destroying the only thing our country can offer: nature?
