The incidents which marred the second game of the best-of-three Gatorade Futsal League play-off final last Friday have resulted in no fewer than four Valletta players and one of Ħamrun Spartans receiving bans that rule them out of tomorrow’s third and decisive game.

Valletta were the worst hit as captain Xavier Saliba has been suspended for a total of eight matches and Shawn Vella for seven games.Goalkeeper Neil Cuschieri and Josef Borg received a three-match ban from the Malta FA Disciplinary Commissioner.

Club president Dassier Borg, who on Monday was fined and ordered not to attend futsal matches for his involvement in the post-match brawl at the Corradino Pavilion last Friday, was suspended for one year while Joseph Borg, Valletta’s kit manager, was handed a two-match ban.

Hamrun Spartans have lost Raphael Felipe Ortiz de Oliviera after the Brazilian, whose challenge on Valletta goalkeeper Cuschieri sparked the melee, was suspended for four games.

Valletta beat Ħamrun Spartans 7-6 in a nailbiting clash last week to set up a decider after the Spartans had won the first game on penalties.
