Schola Cantorum Jubilate is this week presenting a spring concert with a difference.

The concert is being held a month after Earth Day and a few days before World Environment Day, two days that should remind people of nature’s generosity and, at the same time, create a conscience towards the respect and care for ‘our common home’.

All the pieces that will be performed in this concert concern spring and the emerging nature which endows the surroundings with bright colours and chirping birds.

The repertoire being prepared includes compositions by De Prez, Elgar, Chappell, Silvey, Rutter and Diemer among others. Some pieces will be sung a cappella while others will be accompanied by pianist Amy Rapa.

Musical director and soprano Marouska Attard will interpret pieces by internationally renowned Maltese composer Charles Camilleri.

Tenor Stanley Joe Portelli and pianist Anne Marie Camilleri will also take part.

• Blooming… Afternoon Tea with SCJ is being held at Ta’ Frenċ Restaurant courtyard on Sunday at 4pm. Following the concert, a tea party will be held.

Patrons are gently asked to dress smart casual and in pastel colours or in floral designs in order to create a colourful musical atmosphere.

All those interested can buy tickets from D’Amato Records Shop in Valletta and Bargate Bookshop in Victoria.
