A Polish train driver is being hailed a hero after saving his passengers from death and injury.

A truck had broken down on a level crossing and there was no time to stop the train,

The driver raced through the carriages telling passengers to lie down seconds before the impact. Within seconds, the train collides with the lorry and a wooden beam impales a carriage window at seat height.

The train heading to Poznan was travelling at 110km/h and had 100 passengers on board, according to local media reports.
