Mercedes Benz Malta Fashion Week kicks off in Valletta this Saturday with a fashion show on Republic Street.

The event, now in its sixth edition, will showcase the work of designers, models, make-up artists, photographers and other fashionistas emerging from Malta’s burgeoning fashion industry. It will culminate with the Malta Fashion Awards show.

The Republic Street ‘New Designers’ fashion show will begin at 11am. A photo exhibition will be held in Palace Square that evening at 8.30pm. The fashion week’s other events will all be held across the harbour, in Fort St Angelo.

Mercedes Benz Malta Fashion Week executive producer Adrian J. Mizzi said that the event provided an international platform for Maltese artistic talent to reach a more global audience. He thanked the event’s volunteers, corporate sponsors and participating government entities.

“What is needed now is more determined investment to help the local industry take things to an even more professional level,” he said.

Valletta 2018 chairman Jason Micallef said he was proud to include the event in the foundation’s event programme leading to its stint at the 2018 European Capital of Culture.
