Pro-government protesters have taken to the streets of major Brazilian cities, burning tires and snarling traffic, as the impeachment process against President Dilma Rousseff gets back on track.

The reason? A change of mind by Waldir Maranhao, Speaker of the lower house of Congress.

On Monday, he made the surprise decision to annul an April impeachment vote against Rousseff.

But then he reversed his decision, but made no mention of why, prompting outrage on the streets of Sao Paulo.

The President has denied committing any crime and vows to fight impeachment by all legal means.
