It was the rumour that wouldn't stop swirling around Maltese internet circles, and it turned out to be true.

Singer and Malta's great Eurovision hope Ira Losco is pregnant.

Ms Losco made the announcement in a Facebook post this morning. She is currently in Stockholm, Sweden, where she will perform Malta's Eurovision entry Walk on Water in the first semi final on Tuesday.

She wrote:

"I'm ecstatic that my boyfriend Sean, family and friends are here to support me all the way. To add to all the excitement I'm also celebrating my First Mother's Day as a mother-to-be.

"Sean Gravina and I are very very happy to finally share this news with you all which some of you might have guessed already .

"We never thought we would have been so blessed with such beautiful news accompanying this Eurovision experience which has given me so much strength both as an artist and as a private person .

Rumours of Ms Losco's pregnancy just wouldn't go away over the past weeks, with fans repeatedly bringing up the question.

It will be Ms Losco's second attempt at winning the Eurovision. Back in 2002 she finished second, just 12 points short of victory, with her song 7th Wonder.

Bookmakers reckon Malta has an outside chance of winning the contest, with many ranking Ms Losco's entry the sixth favourite.
