Martina Caruana will deliver a talk about the types of illumination in a book and how they are organised on Thursday at 6.30pm at the Din l-Art Ħelwa premises in Valletta.

Examples used to illustrate the session will be taken from Medieval and Renaissance illuminated books found in Maltese collections, most of which are inaccessible to the public.

Caruana holds a PhD in History of Art from the Sorbonne (Paris IV) and currently occupies the position of senior lecturer within Mcast’s Institute for the Creative Arts. She is specialised in illuminated books in Malta and has lectured and published on the subject.

The talk is one in a series presented monthly by Din l-Art Helwa. It will be delivered in English and seating is not numbered. A donation to Din l-Art Helwa will be appreciated.
