My dearest mother, who is 85 years old, has been confined to a wheelchair since last year.

Thankfully, she was provided with an electric wheelchair some weeks later and this slightly improved her motivation.

In early January, the wheelchair developed a fault and had to be taken in for repair.

It has now been awaiting repairs for four months and the reason is the procurement of a spare part from a local supplier.

I am outraged at the length of time it takes to repair a simple device and I am also appalled at the non-existing sense of urgency. Boeing builds 40 aircraft in one month!

I write this in the hope that those responsible for these delays take note and a Christian attitude in their responsibilities would prevail to provide this basic service to the elderly.
