More than 80,000 flowering plants have been laid out in St George's square to reproduce the outline of one of the early plans of Valletta and its fortifications.

The infiorata is part of the annual Valletta Green Festival, officially opened this morning.

An artistic reinterpretation of the grid of the straight streets which characterise Valletta serve as a colourful backdrop.

The Valletta Green Festival, organised by the Valletta 2018 Foundation, is this year marking Valletta’s 450th anniversary. It continues throughout the weekend.
