The Nationalist Party was being ridiculous when it requested publication of the receipts of a private visit abroad by the prime minister, which he had paid for, the Labour Party said this evening.

The request was over a recent visit by the prime minister and Mrs Muscat to Dubai.

The PL said Simon Busuttil had demanded information about a private holiday by the prime minister and his family while protecting his two deputies, who had still not published receipts for works done by contractors who were close to them 'as a gift'.

Dr Busuttil had sunk to a new level, the PL said.

PM STAYED IN VERY EXPENSIVE HOTEL - PN

In a statement earlier, the Nationalist Party said Dr Muscat had stayed in one of the most expensive hotels in Dubai.

It said that it had for the past 10 days been asking him to issue the receipts and to show who had paid for his hotel stay, but he had refused to do so.

It asked him to be forthcoming in the interests of transparency.
