The following are the top stories in the Maltese newspapers today.

Times of Malta reports that an appeals court has snubbed an expert and opened a can of worms. The issue is over falsification of documents and testimony by a calligraphy expert.

The Malta Independent says Bank of Valletta has denied due diligence breaches but the authorities consider the situation extremely serious.

MaltaToday says Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi is vying for the Labour deputy leadership. Chris Cardona has already declared his interest while Owen Bonnici has not taken a decision yet.  

The newspaper also reports that Nemea Bank has insisted it is profitable and highly liquid.  

In-Nazzjon leads with a curtain-raiser on the no confidence motion in Konrad Mizzi, due to be debated in parliament today.
