It has now been seven full years since the children in St Paul’s Bay have been blatantly robbed of the playground facilities situated next to the locality’s primary school to accommodate an indoor bowling facility for the grown-ups. One has nothing against such a facility if only the playground had been re-instated as soon as the indoor bowling facility were completed.

The children who used to enjoy this facility have now grown up and, five years down the line, the bowling centre is open but the site that used to accommodate the children’s recreation area is still deserted.

Occasionally, we hear of various promises that this playground is to be re-instated, and by three successive local councils, but, to date, the site is still deserted, which confirms that votes and the adults are more important to the council than the children in the locality.

Shame on the council that backed the project and then failed to re-instate the children’s playground and shame on those who were responsible overall and ignored the children.
